Burrito Spiced Bean Salad

A simple and easy to put together salad that I made plenty of times when I was in University and when I was just starting my "cooking endeavors" as I like to call those times. We combine the flavours of freshly canned medley beans with Burrito Spice Mix for a nice kick of flavour. Perfect on nachos, tacos, burritos and bowls!

Burrito Spiced Bean Salad
Servings: 4 individual portion sizes
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Ingredients & Utensils
1 Mixing Bowl
1 Strainer/Colander
1 Spoon/Spatula
1 can of Medley/Mixed Beans
1 packet (24g) of Burrito Spice Mix (store bought)
1 handful of Cilantro, roughly chopped
1 teaspoon Salt (adjust as per your taste preference)
Let's Get Cooking!
1. Strain the canned Medley/Mixed Beans in cold water a good number of times. This will help to remove the gas-like-properties and starch from the beans.
2. Once thoroughly washed, add the Beans and the remaining ingredients into a Mixing Bowl. Combine with a Spoon/Spatula.
3. The secret to this recipe is letting the salad chill in the fridge for approximately 10 minutes. *hehe, such a simple step* This will allow the Burrito Spice Mix and Beans to marry one another - thus, tasting delicious!
Voila - you have made a homemade Burrito Spiced Mixed Bean Salad that can be topped in tacos, nachos, or Burrito Bowls. The combinations are endless with this salad!

Notes
1. Substitue any of the ingredients to your dietary preference.
2. Storage: This can be stored in glass container/tupperware in the fridge for up to 1 week!
