Strawberry Chia Seed Jam

Yields: 1 and 1/2 cups of Jam
Prep Time: 3 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 18 minutes

Ingredients & Utensils

1 Spatula

1 cooking pot

Stove-top/Microwave

Fork/Spoon/Potato Masher (to mash the strawberries)

2 cups frozen/fresh Strawberries

2 tablespoons of Chia Seeds (this is the secret binding ingredient!)

Let's Get Cooking!

1. If you ae using fresh Strawberries, cut them into quarters and then place in a cooking pot on the stove-top. If you are using frozen Strawberries, directly put 2 cups into a cooking pot on the stove-top. Turn on the stove-top to a low setting. With a spatula gently mix the strawberries, every 30 seconds, to allow it to release its natural juices and sweetness; as well as to prevent the strawberries from burning.

Cooking Tip: If you feel like your strawberries are taking a little longer to release its juices splash 2 tablespoons of water into your cooking pan, or microwavable bowl!

2. Use your spatula, fork, or the back of a spoon to mash the strawberries. Once your strawberries turn into a compote-like chunky substance ...and when your entire kitchen smells of the aroma of strawberries, add the chia seeds into your strawberry mixture.

Cooking Tip: If you like a more smooth strawberry jam instead of a chunky strawberry

jam keep mashing the strawberries until it is to your desired preference before adding the chia seeds.

3. Fold the chia seeds into the strawberry compote-like mixture, until the chia seeds combine with the strawberry jam to form your very own homemade strawberry jam! At this point do a taste test. If you want your jam to be a bit more sweeter you can either add Maple Syrup, or a little trick is to add a splash of Apple or Orange Juice!

Notes

1. Substitute any ingredients to your dietary preferences.

2. Microwave Variation: If you are using a microwave, place the 2 cups of fresh/frozen strawberries in a microwavable bowl. Then place it in the microwave for 5-7 minutes (depending upon your microwave's wattage) and stirring the strawberries every 2 minute intervals. Use a fork/spoon/spatula/potato masher to mash the strawberries so they release their juices. Once it is to your prefered consistency, add the chia seeds, stir and combine and voila! You have made your own homemade strawberry jam!

3. Storage: Store your homemade Strawberry Jam in glass jar(s); however, allow your homemade jam to completely cool down before sealing and placing it in your fridge. Stores in the fridge for up to two weeks!
